Drone roof survey

Drone roof surveys and inspections

Some roofs shouldn’t be walked on, and some can’t be reached at all without scaffold. A drone gets close-up photos of every tile, ridge, valley and chimney from the air, and a roofer who repairs roofs for a living tells you what they show.

No scaffold, no ladders on the roof · report usually within 48 hours

When a drone survey makes sense

  • Tall houses and buildings where ladders won’t safely reach
  • Steep, fragile or old roofs that could be damaged by someone walking on them
  • Shared and commercial buildings with no access to the roof
  • Leaks you can’t find, where you need to see the whole roof, not just one corner
  • Insurance claims that need clear photos of storm damage

The drone is a tool, not the whole survey. Where we can, we also check the loft for timber condition, felt and damp, and look at gutters and flashings from ladders, so the report covers the roof from both sides.

What customers say about our drone surveys

★★★★★

George has been so helpful I highly recommend Tilley's Roofing and Maintenance Ltd. I needed a drone survey and diagnostic report for a leaking roof that is part of a shared building. I was provided with a thorough 17 page report containing sharp images, taken by a drone, and over 10 additional images for my files. George really went the extra mile and I'm hoping to be able to get the repair works started soon. There was no access to the roof so this was all done without scaffolding or roof access. Brilliant!

★★★★★

We opted for an independent survey after receiving conflicting information about our roof. George was on site for several hours and performed a thorough assessment, including damp readings, drone usage as well as visual inspection. We received a 17 page report with clear assessment plus photos of the issues raised. We opted for George’s team to undertake the work, Carlos led and was amazing, always checking we were happy, and explaining what was happening. Bradley and Danny also were impeccably polite and worked incredibly efficiently. Thanks to the whole team!

Drone roof survey questions

What is a drone roof survey?

We fly a drone over and around the roof and take close-up photos of the tiles, ridges, valleys, chimneys and flashings. It lets us inspect the whole roof without ladders, scaffold or anyone walking on it.

When is a drone survey better than going on the roof?

For tall buildings, steep or fragile roofs, roofs over conservatories or shared buildings where there’s no safe access, and anywhere a person walking on the roof could cause damage. We often combine the drone with ladder checks and a look in the loft.

Do I need scaffolding for a drone roof inspection?

No. That’s the main reason people choose it. One customer with a leaking roof on a shared building had a full survey done with no scaffolding and no roof access at all.

What do I get at the end?

A written report with the drone photos, what each one shows and what we recommend. Customers have had reports of 17 pages with more than ten extra photos for their files.

How much does a drone roof survey cost?

It depends on the size and height of the roof. House roof surveys start from £280 + VAT and commercial roofs are priced on request. We’ll give you a price before we book.
